What are these Workshops?

Our workshops will give you the opportunity to muse, explore ideas, solve problems and experience what expanded states of consciousness feel like through the support of the Hemi-Sync frequencies. You are invited to leave expectations at home with your daily duties and bring instead your curiosity and openness to whatever your experience may be.

Imagine spending the weekend stretched out in your own restful nest, using an iPod with earbuds, just relaxing into robust and reliable states of expanded consciousness, guided by the Monroe Institute’s Hemi‐Sync® audio technology. Decades of research demonstrate that these coherent brainwave patterns can be learned rapidly and then reliably replicated. This process is easy and fun, a great way to rest and recharge.

During the workshop we will be using the Monroe Institute’s Hemi‐Sync® audio-guidance technology that facilitates synchronization of both hemispheres of the brain and supports you in rapidly achieving states of consciousness used to expand awareness and deepen meditation, relaxation, and concentration.

Following a sequence of guided meditations and techniques you will learn how to comfortably shift and expand your awareness along a continuum of consciousness that is usually only accessible after years of training and practice. In fact, two Buddhist monks who completed the residential “Gateway” program told Bob Monroe that what he taught in a week had taken them 20 years to achieve! In addition, you will learn 15 different practices to access and use these states of awareness in daily life.

Ten different inner journeys will provide techniques to access and use these states of awareness spontaneously in daily life. While the results of these exercises and tools are highly personal and varied, common experiences include the following:

What to Expect?

We have a lot to cover in our short weekend together so it is necessary to attend all sessions, arrive on time, and stay until the end of each day.

Also making arrangements to be offline from phone calls and email will facilitate your own experience and minimize interruptions to our group.

Although we start our days early, you will be reclining a good part of the time, and the exercises themselves foster both deep relaxation and increased energy. You will also benefit by refraining from consuming alcohol or any other mind-altering substances during the course of the weekend.

Hemi-Sync Exercises

The Excursion workshop consists of comfortably listening to a progressive series of Hemi-Sync exercises such as the ones linked below. You are guided into a deep state of relaxation. Once you are experiencing the state that Bob Monroe called, “Mind awake, body asleep,” the Hemi-Sync frequencies change to support you moving into more expanded states of consciousness. This frequently facilitates experiences of heightened intuition, inner guidance, and access to a deeper inner wisdom.

If you have never experienced Hemi-Sync technology before, I suggest you take a listen to these free tracks. Try the Introductory exercise first, as Bob Monroe will introduce the technology and then guide you into the experience. This open exercise offers plenty of “free-flow” time to just experience the Hemi-Sync frequencies.

What is Provided?

Session Materials

  • iPod (and instructions on how to use it) with earbuds with the full program loaded on it for use during the Excursion workshop
  • Participant Manual (with room for making notes)

Food

We will be providing lunch and eating together both days. Alden makes sure we have lots of yummy and healthy options.

  • Healthy snacks, dark chocolate, assorted teas, water
  • Fixings for sandwiches and salads for our lunches together (see registration form for space to note dietary restrictions.)

If you have special dietary needs, feel free to bring your own food. You will have access to the kitchen, including refrigerator, microwave, and stove.

What to Wear and What to Bring

  • You without any fragrances.
  • As senses heighten when the mind quiets and expands, smells can seem stronger. We will be in close space together, so it will be more comfortable for all to be fragrance free.
  • Comfy layers of clothes.
    As you will be reclining during Hemi-Sync exercises, wear very comfortable clothing. Some people find they feel hotter or colder as their consciousness expands, so dress with layers.
  • Cozy “nesting” materials.
    Pillows, blankets, hiking and yoga pads, etc. to make a “nest” for yourself. You will probably want to lie down at least for the earlier exercises. We will have more people in this workshop than we have padded places to recline, so you will want to have sufficient padding for the floor. If you have an easily portable reclining lawn or “zero-gravity” chair you want to bring, that is fine too.
  • Eye mask/cover.
    This could be an eye bag, a dinner napkin, scarf, or washcloth.
  • Pens, pencils.
    Writing and sketching materials, colored markers, should you wish to sketch some of your “findings.” You are welcome to bring your own journal or sketchpad. You will have some space for jotting notes in the manual.
  • Your own stereo headphones, if you prefer them to earbuds.
    Earbuds will be provided. Should you wish to bring your own earphones, they should have the small plugs used in portable music players, personal MP3 devices, and computers.
  • Reading glasses, if you need them.
    For manuals and reading the very small menus on the Nano iPods.
  • Checkbook for Monroe Products Hemi-Sync CDs.
